I build simple financial products with complicated systems underneath. The work is in the payments, the credit, and the ledgers. But most importantly within determining how and when people use them.
A card that spends against what you already own. Oracles that put an outside fact on a ledger. Rails that move dollars without a bank in the middle. The consumer sees one button.
That last sentence is what the analytics major is for. IEOR at Berkeley is mostly people systems engineering: how, when, and why someone makes a payment or takes a loan, and how the incentives inside a financial system line up for the people in it, or fail to. Every rail serves some parties and not others. Knowing which, and designing for it, is most of the work.
I am a student at Berkeley doing a double major, business administration through Haas and analytics through Industrial Engineering and Operations Research in the College of Engineering, and I am on the CPA track through the Berkeley Charter of Professional Accountancy. Most of my time right now goes into Gether, a company I co-founded. It is a credit card that lets you spend against your stocks, crypto, and cash without selling them. We have grant funding from the Solana Foundation and the Alchemy Foundation.
Before that I worked on stablecoin card rails at Apocor, built oracle infrastructure with Chainlink Labs, did reinforcement learning work at HootBoard, and underwrote hotel deals in Spain and Miami. I have been on-chain since around 2015 and shipped my first real project, an Ethereum DEX, in 2022. The common thread is payments and credit, and the accounting underneath both. Off the desk I read about Classical and Hellenistic warfare, race skis, and trade derivatives most days.

Off the desk
- Classical & Hellenistic Warfare. The longest-running interest I have. Grew up in Virginia close enough to Civil War battlefields that family weekends ended at one, read backwards from there through Napoleon, Caesar, and Alexander, and landed in ancient Greece by middle school. Books, documentaries with my dad, and a lot of forty-minute battle videos with animated arrows. What holds me is the people under the fighting, who trusts whom and how far. Epaminondas at Leuctra, everything at one point and weak everywhere else, is how I make decisions.
- Defense Technology. Where the history and the networking hardware meet. Veterans in my community run the Android Team Awareness Kit on group hunts, so I turned a Kindle Fire into a pocket command center running it, after the Army's Next Generation Command and Control effort, and built an AI layer that checks live reports against a verified history and pins its reading onto the map. Sharing information and sharing understanding turned out to be different problems.
- Trading on Hyperliquid. I trade crypto derivatives most days, on Hyperliquid now, Solana before that. Not professionally. It gives me a sense of how these markets feel to the people using them, which you do not fully get from building the infrastructure alone. My interest in finance goes back to high school, where I won international awards in finance competitions, and it is a large part of why I am doing the CPA alongside the engineering.
- Bored Ape Yacht Club. I am a member. I was deep in NFTs during that cycle and still am.
- Privacy Communications & Network Hardware. Private messaging, privacy services, and the hardware side of network communications. This started with the certifications and the privacy coins and led into military communications: how a unit shares position and observations when the radio drops half the words. The Kindle Fire command center and the map AI came out of it.
- Alpine Ski Racing. Skiing since I was four. Six years racing slalom and giant slalom for the Wintergreen Ski Team in the Southern Alpine Racing Association league, U16 through U21. Top 50 finishes and a trip to Eastern Championships. Two hours each way every winter weekend, seven-plus hours on snow a day. Racing taught me that the fastest way down is to commit fully to your line, since any hesitation makes you both slower and more likely to fall. The same has held for most of the harder decisions in building a company. I still follow the FIS World Cup closely.
- Cars. Not GT cars specifically, just cars. The ones I actually want are a Ferrari 488 Spider or a 458 Spider. I like Bentleys, the Aston Martin Vantage, and the DB5. On the far end a Pagani Utopia or a Koenigsegg One:1. I also like Hondas and Camrys. A good car is a good car.
- Urban Gardening / Forestry. Started with Tree Fredericksburg and Downtown Greens in high school. Planting native trees around the city, picking sites off heat maps to cut urban heat islands, and keeping community gardens that give their produce away. I still garden.
- Miami Dolphins. I grew up watching them. My dad grew up in Miami, the city my grandpa set roots in, so the Dolphins came with the family. There's always next year!
- Tennis. Four-year varsity starter and captain my senior year at James Monroe.
- Golf
- Mahjong. Picked it up when I got to Berkeley. It turned out to be the best way I have found to sit with people for a few hours and actually talk through ideas.
- Mexican Fast Food. Taco Bell, mostly. I love it.
- Nintendo. Top 500 in Splatoon 2 for a long stretch of high school, mostly during COVID. Held the world record on Coconut Mall in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for a few minutes when the track came out.
- Books. Favorite book: The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. I read it as a kid and it stuck. As an older reader it can look too simple to others, and I defend it. Its beauty is that it is understandable to almost anyone while still holding to what it believes.
- Childhood Dream Job: Astronaut. First thing I wanted to be. I looked at the stars through telescopes and high-powered binoculars and went to museums every weekend. My favorites were the Air and Space museums in and around Washington, DC.
Certifications
- CompTIA A+ / Network+ / CCST Foundations
- Berkeley Charter of Professional Accountancy. CPA track, Honor Roll. Two summers of Haas accounting coursework covering the 30 units California requires.
